Daesan Literary Awards
Candidates for the Daesan Literary Award included literary works published and performed between August 2011 and July 2012. The initial screening process took place for three months, starting at the beginning of June. During the final screening process, which took two months starting in September, the Foundation selected the winning works in each genre: Paek Musan in the poetry category for All Edges; Chung Yongmun in the fiction category for The World of a Certain Title of Nobility; Hwang Hyonsan in the criticism category for Well Explained Misfortune; and Ko Hyeson and Francisco Karansa in the translation category for Los arobles en la cuesta. There was no winner for the drama category this year. The 2012 award winners exemplified the vitality of new writers and the staying power of the established and prominent writers.
The prize winner in the fiction category was awarded 50 million KRW, and the rest of the categories were each awarded 30 million KRW, totaling the award money to 160 million KRW. Winning works from the poetry and fiction categories will be translated into different languages through the Translation Grants 2013 program. They will be published into one of the major languages through a publishing company of the target language and will be introduced to readers. The award ceremony was held at 6:30 pm on November 29 at the International Hall in the Korea Press Center.
