Translated into Chinese by Professor Jang Ryun-Guae, of Peking University Institute of Korean Studies, this book receives critical acclaim for being the first national literature study written under the uniform historical view and dialectic organization of the national literature scholar Jo Yun-Jae; it should provide useful for researchers and students of Korean literature in China. The fact that the internationally recognized Peking University supervised both translation and publication warrants some influence.

In this work, the inner world of the human Jesus is frankly described with a beautiful, poetic literary style and psychological imagination. Author Yi Mun-Yol uses the main character, Min Young-Seob, who has fundamental doubts about the Christian perspective, to inquire about the origins of humanity and that transcendental relationship. This work takes the form of a story within a story.

    Yi Ki-Baek (Author)/ Cho Young-Gil, Lee Il-Jin, et al (Translators)/ Russia: ¬²¬å¬ã¬ã¬Ü¬à¬Ö ¬ã¬Ý¬à¬Ó¬à, 2001
The Korea-Russia private culture exchange organization, ¬±¬¦¬²¬£¬°¬¦ ¬®¬¡¬²¬´¬¡ (president: Lee Hyung Keun) supervised the translation and release of this Russian edition of the comprehensive Korean history book, A New Theory of Korean History, by Yi Ki-Baek. In efforts to overcome Japanese Colonialist views, and instead deliver an accurate historical truth of Korea, this historic text systemizes the links between concrete, social and chronological facts; rather than into the trichotomy of dividing a period into ¡®old-middle-modern,¡¯ or empires, history branches into each human collective movement in society, culture, politics, and economics. The two head Korean translators at the Russia National Broadcasting, Cho Young-Gil and Lee Il-Jin, translated, and Professor Jung Seok-Bae and edited the resulting text. As the first Korean history research treatise in Russia, special care went into the translation for a faithful and clear communication of the author¡¯s perspectives on Korean history.

    James H. Grayson (Author)/ UK: Curzon, 2001
The completion of four years study of a body of folktales and oral narrative tradition in Korea, this book covers 175 tales and 16 oral narratives from neighboring countries, categorized into foundation myths of ancient states and clans, ancient folktales and legends (pre 10th C), and modern folktales (10~19th C). Study extends to type analysis according to material, and comparative study of oral narrative in China, Japan and other areas. Further, the ¡®dramatic structure analysis¡¯ attempts a poignant anthropological approach of comparing function and purpose of narrative literature to their historical period background.

T¡¯aekniji: The Korean Classic for Choosing Settlements
Yi Chung-Hwan (Author)/ Inshil Choe Yoon (Translator)/ Australia: Wild Peony, 1998
Five years of examination and translation by the University of Auckland (New Zealand) Professor of Korean Studies, Inshil Choe Yoon, has now been released as part of the University of Sydney Southeast Asian Studies Series. Yi Chung-Hwan¡¯s (penname: Chongdam) masterpiece in the human geography of the late Joseon dynasty, T¡¯aengniji provides more than perceptive commentary on geography examining history, economy, society, and traffic; critics hail its extensive content as being 100 years ahead of modern Western geography. The English translation avails its international acknowledgement in the academic world, not to mention situate Korean geography on the international academic stage.
