The Foundation selected 13 recipients and awarded them between 5 to 6 million won each for the translations, a total of 66 million won.
Awards were given to three English works including The History of Tom Jones by Henry Fielding, two each in German, Spanish and Chinese, and one each in French, Japanese, Russian, and Dutch. Most of these works are to be translated for the first time into Korean.
The award ceremony was held at the Daesan Foundation on December 10th.
Six works were added to the "Daesan World Classics," series, including Michel Butor's La Modification.
"Daesan World Classics" is published by Moonhak-kwa-Jisung-sa as part of an on-going series based on translations that receive these grants.
